Employee Feature Photo - Caroline HollandJust call me “Smiley!”  It fits me perfectly 99% of the time.

Hello!  I’m Caroline Holland.  I work at the Rhodes location across from the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau on North Sprigg Street.  I’ve been with Rhodes for almost nine years, and nearly all have been spent at this location.

I believe we have some of the best customers in the area!  I never mind giving them free laughs and smiles for free because I love cheering people up on a bad day.  I’ve been asked several times if I’m always this happy, and my answer is “Yes!”  That’s where my nickname “Smiley” comes from.

I have customers of all ages and walks of life.  I manage to relate to each of them somehow.  Two of my favorite “rock star” customers are in the second grade and kindergarten.  Layla and Lawson visit our drive thru almost daily with their father, Darren.  On mornings they have extra time, the kids get to come inside and enjoy our donuts or biscuits and gravy.

I probably like those kiddos because I’m still a kid-at-heart.  I continue to watch one of my favorite childhood shows, South Park.  I remember visiting my friend Megan’s house every Wednesday night so we could watch it together.  Now, I just curl up on my own couch to enjoy it.

I can also relate to our college student customers because I am one.  I’m finishing my junior year as a multimedia journalism major with the thoughts of adding graphic design as a minor.  My advice to our college student customers is to go to class!  I skipped way too many classes in my earlier years.  I know that 8 am classes are “evil,” but you can be finished with your day by lunch.  Just go early because you definitely will not want to be in class until 3:30 or 4:45 in the afternoon.  That just leads to more skipping.

I can also relate to our college-aged customers because of student loans.  If I could have three wishes granted, the first would be that my student loans would be paid.  I’d use the other two wishes less selfishly.  I’d start by curing cancer.  I have several customers that are suffering from it.  I wish I could take it away for them.  Somehow, they keep a positive attitude and kick cancer’s butt!  My third wish would be to foster as many homeless dogs as possible.  I already have two fur babies, and I’d have more if my house was bigger.

So, that’s a little about me and even more about what I think about our customers.  I invite you to visit our Rhodes location on North Sprigg anytime you need cheering up.  I haven’t failed too many customers in making them happy.  I promise you probably won’t be my first failure!
